Overview
Every year, California students take several statewide tests. When combined with other measures such as grades, class work, and teacher observations, these tests give families and teachers a more complete picture of a student’s learning. You can use the results to identify where your child is doing well and where they might need more support.
CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress)
ELPAC (English Language Proficiency Assessments of California)
There are many benefits for students to do well on these exams. High school students who demonstrate proficiency in these exams may qualify for additional recognition or benefits such as the State Seal of Biliteracy, EL-reclassification or the medal of CTE completion. Furthermore, these exams qualify as one of the many metrics used by some colleges/universities as an indicator of students college-level readiness through the EAP (early assessment program).
