Great students, great educators, and a great program!
Here at Corona High School, we try do the best by your students by providing them with a variety of supports. In order to make sure your student is getting the adequate support they need, please make sure to fill out an option form. The option form consists of three options for our EL students here at Corona High. The first option is enrollment in our Structured English Immersion program. The second option is our English Language Mainstream Program and the third would be our Dual Language Immersion Program. See the videos below for more information!

The Statistics
With Corona High Schools' over 2,000 students, 397 of those are our Bilingual Scholars. With languages ranging from Greek, to Pashto, to Arabic, to Spanish and more, we have a wide variety of students with a wide variety of backgrounds. Some of our students come to us with near-proficient levels of English, meanwhile others have never spoken English at all. With that kind of variety, we do our best to make sure that no one falls through the cracks. That being said, we are glad to be able to say that out of the students here at Corona High, we have a great population of Reclassified English Proficient students as well. With a total of 988 reclassified students, we are still providing support/monitoring to 581 of them! That way even if your student leaves the EL program, they still can have the support they're used to for up to four years!

English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)
ELAC is a committee just for our English Language Learners to have an active voice about their school and their program. Parents, students, and community members are all welcome to come and participate. If you enjoy the discussion, please feel free to run for a committee member spot during our next election cycle as well. Please come and let your voice be heard! The more input we get the better we can make our school. Check upcoming events for future dates and links!

Read 180
This is a software/ assessment tool that allows us to measure your student's Lexile level (to see what grade level they are capable of reading). This is one of the assessments we use to make sure your student is ready for reclassification as English Proficient.

How to Reclassify / Exit the Program
If your student is one of our bilingual scholars, the goal is always to help them to reclassification as English Proficient. In order to do that, they need to do three things. First, they need to have an ELPAC score of 4. Second, they need to have a passing Read 180 Lexile level score. Then finally, they need to have a C- or better in the Language Arts class. While this does mean they reclassify, it doesn't mean they stop getting support. They are able to still get help four years after they are reclassified. However, now it will be optional instead and they will just have to ask for it.
